According to the Caracol TV channel, citing official sources, 132 people
lost their lives and 570 were injured in the strong earthquake in Colombia.
"One hundred thirty-two people have died, 570 people have been
injured, and 32 municipalities are at a red alert level," stated a report
on the X social network.
It was noted that the situation is particularly severe in Pereira and other
areas of the Coffee Region, as well as in the departments of Valle del Cauca
and Chocó.
On Monday morning, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake occurred. Its epicenter was
located near the municipality of San José del Palmar in the Chocó department.
The tremors were felt across a large part of Colombia and in neighboring
countries. 1,575 residential buildings were damaged and 37 were completely
destroyed. Additionally, 18 healthcare centers, 52 educational institutions, 18
roads, and seven airports suffered damage, reported ria.ru.
Authorities have declared a national state of disaster.
