The French
forward has become the sole record holder for the most goals scored in World
Cup knockout stage matches.
The
striker achieved another milestone by scoring a brace in the round of 16 match
against Sweden. He has now scored ten goals in nine knockout matches — a feat
never before achieved by any player in history.
Prior to
this, Mbappé's record in this regard was tied with two legendary Brazilian
footballers — Leônidas (8 goals in 5 matches) and Ronaldo (8 goals in 10
matches), but now the Frenchman has taken the top spot.
Mbappé has
also surpassed Miroslav Klose (18 goals) in total World Cup goals scored.
Lionel Messi remains the overall leader with 19 goals, reported by report.az.
