So, in 2025 alone, about 200 international events were held, which helps to reduce seasonality and create stable year-round demand in the hotel, transport and service sectors.
The international tournament "Asian Grand Prix 2026", organized by the International Backgammon Federation (IBF), is taking place in Tashkent from March 23 to March 29. This event is not only a sporting event, but also an important factor in the development of MICE tourism in the country.
At the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov noted that holding such competitions promotes the popularization of intellectual games and strengthens international relations. According to him, holding the tournament in Tashkent helps attract foreign guests and demonstrates the high level of organization of events in Uzbekistan.
IBF President Umar Kremlev (in a video message format), Deputy Minister of Sports of Uzbekistan Avazjon Karimov and Vice President of the International Federation of Kurash Ravshan Dastirov also delivered welcoming speeches.
The tournament features over 700 players and guests from over 60 countries, including Russia, Argentina, China, Turkey, the United States, Italy and others. Refereeing is provided by 24 international arbitrators.
