The delegation included Gulnara Marufova, a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, who works on a permanent basis in the Committee on Science, Education and Health, Malika Kalandarova, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court, Mukarram Nurmatova, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Family and Women, and Dilnoza Muratova, Deputy Director of the National Center for Human Rights.
The event has become an important platform for discussing global approaches to protecting the rights of older women and promoting fair social and legal policies.
During the discussion, the participants discussed the key challenges faced by older women: age discrimination, limited access to healthcare, social services, and justice. Special attention was paid to the need to integrate a gender-sensitive approach into social protection and pension programs.
The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Family and Women of the Republic of Uzbekistan, M. Nurmatova, made a presentation at the round table, which described in detail the country's comprehensive measures to support older women. She highlighted Uzbekistan's efforts to strengthen the legal and institutional foundations of social protection, ensure decent retirement benefits, and expand opportunities for older women to participate in public and economic life.
The delegation of Uzbekistan also shared national practices and initiatives aimed at overcoming barriers for older women, and studied successful international examples for possible implementation at the national level.
The country's participation in this event reflects Uzbekistan's commitment to developing a comprehensive policy to protect the rights of women of all ages, strengthen the social and economic status of older women, and actively share international experience and best practices.
The Ministerial meeting confirmed that ensuring the rights of older women is not only a matter of social justice, but also a strategic element of sustainable development and strengthening the social well-being of society as a whole.
