During the
talks, the parties discussed issues of further expanding cooperation and
accelerating the implementation of joint projects.
As noted at
the meeting, in accordance with the relevant decree of the President of the
Republic of Uzbekistan, it is planned to build a modern multidisciplinary
medical complex with 800 beds in the Ferghana region on the basis of a
public-private partnership.
An
important step towards the practical implementation of the project was the
previously signed agreement between the Ministry of Health and a consortium of
private partners - the winner of the tender, which included the Saudi company
Vision International Investment Company and the Uzbek company KOS Construction
Mekanik Elektrik Fe LLC.
The new
multidisciplinary medical complex will combine five existing branches of
specialized medical centers in the region into a single system.
The
institution will provide the population of the Ferghana region, neighboring
regions of Uzbekistan and neighboring countries with high-tech medical care in
such areas as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, organ transplantation, nephrology,
orthopedics and a number of other specialties in accordance with international
standards.
The project
also provides for the creation of intensive care and emergency medical units
with 160 beds, as well as all necessary auxiliary clinical infrastructure.
In
addition, the project plans to create a modern medical education cluster
"Fergana Plus", which will combine medical education, scientific
research and practical healthcare. It will include a nursing training school, a
medical university and a hotel complex.
Following
the meeting, the parties signed an agreement on the establishment of the
medical education cluster "Fergana Plus".
The
negotiators expressed confidence that the implementation of the project would
be an important contribution to further strengthening the strategic partnership
and friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia, as well as help
bring the quality of medical services in the country to a new level.
