The
document was signed between Uzbekistan Airports JSC and the Saudi company
Vision International Investment. The project will be implemented in cooperation
with leading companies from Saudi Arabia, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
According
to the Ministry of Transport, according to the agreement, the new airport will
be transferred to the management of a private partner for a period of 35 years
on the basis of public-private partnership mechanisms.
The
construction of the airport complex is planned to be carried out in 2026-2030
on the territory of the Urtachirchik and Kuyichirchik districts of the Tashkent
region. The project will be implemented on an area of 1,310 hectares, while at
the initial stage it is expected to attract about $ 3 billion in foreign direct
investment.
The project
provides for the construction of a modern passenger terminal, which will be
four times larger than the existing terminal of the capital's airport. At the
first stage, its capacity will be up to 20 million passengers per year, and in
the future this figure is planned to increase to 46 million.
To ensure a
high level of passenger comfort and safety, modern digital technologies will be
introduced in the new terminal, including accelerated check-in, baggage
screening and handling systems.
In
addition, the project provides for the construction of more than 160 aircraft
parking lots and the installation of over 40 telescopic ramps. Two new runways
will provide the possibility of simultaneous take-offs and landings of
aircraft.
This will
allow performing more than 30 take-off and landing operations per hour. The use
of modern navigation, meteorological and safety systems will ensure the
reception of all types of aircraft in all weather conditions.
Special
attention is paid to the airport's transport accessibility. For the convenience
of residents and visitors of the country, it is planned to create a modern
transport infrastructure with road and rail links connecting the airport with
the capital and regions of the republic.
It is
expected that the implementation of the project will contribute to the further
development of the economy, tourism and logistics, as well as strengthen
Uzbekistan's position as one of the key aviation and transport hubs in Central
Asia.
