The Business Activity Index (IDA), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reform (CEIR), amounted to 1,065 points in April 2026, an increase of 6.5% compared to the previous month (an increase of 22% was recorded compared to the same period last year, Graph No. 1).

In April of this year, the following changes were observed in the IDA components:

– the component in terms of the number of transactions on bank accounts of business entities increased by 8.3%;

– the intensity of purchases of raw materials on the commodity exchange increased by 5.4%;

– the component for operating business entities increased by 1.7%;

– the trademark component increased by 33.9%.

In addition, in April 2026, IDA growth compared to the previous month was observed in all regions of the country (Graph No. 2). In particular, significant growth was recorded in Karakalpakstan (46.2%), Namangan (43.0%), Jizzakh (41.1%) and Syrdarya regions (38.1%) (Tables No. 1 and No. 2).

The number of interbank payment transactions during the reporting period amounted to 7,641.3 thousand, which is 588.8 thousand transactions (8.3%) more than in March 2026.

An increase in the number of interbank payment transactions was registered in 12 regions. In particular, a noticeable increase in the number of banking transactions between legal entities compared to the previous month was recorded in Tashkent (9.8%), Tashkent (9.1%), Syrdarya (9.0%) regions and Karakalpakstan (8.1%). At the same time, this indicator decreased in the Khorezm region by 4.4% and in the Andijan region by 3.7%.

The exchange component of the IDA amounted to 1.0543 points, an increase of 5.4% compared to the previous month. At the same time, the average volume of goods purchased under one transaction increased by 15.0%, while the number of concluded transactions decreased by 4.1%.

The total trading volume for 34 main types of goods on the Republican Commodity Exchange amounted to 8,532 billion soums, which is 14.4% more than in the previous month.

The main factor in the growth of activity on the stock exchange was the increase in sales of industrial oil by 208.5 times compared to the previous month, bitumen by 2.6 times, cottonseed oil by 1.9 times and diesel fuel by 1.6 times.

The component of operating business entities for the reporting period amounted to 1,0170 points, an increase of 1.7% compared to the previous month.

At the same time:

– the total number of operating business entities increased by 3,682 units and reached 514.7 thousand.;

– the number of large enterprises increased by 221 and amounted to 4,940;

– the number of small enterprises increased by 3.6 thousand and reached 420.9 thousand.

At the same time, the number of farms decreased by 141 and amounted to 88.9 thousand.

The trademark component amounted to 1,3392 points, an increase of 33.9% compared to the previous month. During the specified period, 529 trademarks and product names were registered by legal entities.
