The main goal of reforms is to create decent living conditions for the population

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Kashkadarya region on October 24 to get acquainted with the progress of regional development.

Resolving regional development issues during on-site visits, dialogue with people, and studying the population’s opinions is an integral feature of the policy pursued by the Head of state. The primary purpose of visits to the regions is to improve the living standards of villagers, industrialize areas, increase jobs, and improve social conditions.

These features are also evident during the trip to Kashkadarya region, which began with an acquaintance with the sewing enterprise of the Sulton Tex Group cluster.

The enterprise was put into operation last year due to a project costing USD 8 million 200 thousand. Thanks to modern technologies and equipment, a production capacity of 5 million units of sewing and knitwear products per year has been created.

Notably, the cluster has established exports on the principle of “new products – new country”. Today, quality goods are fully exported to countries such as the United States, Canada, Poland, Singapore, and Russia. Accordingly, high levels of income and labor productivity are achieved. The entire cluster chain, from growing cotton to producing finished products, employs about 3 thousand people.

The President got acquainted with the work process of the enterprise. The importance of such projects for the region’s economy and employment was emphasized. It was noted that opportunities in this area are not fully used.

“The creation of worthy living conditions for the population, especially residents of rural areas, should become the basis of our reforms”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

Kashkadarya region produces the most cotton in the country. However, the volume of processing and transformation of raw materials into a finished product does not correspond to this potential. If you establish the manufacture and painting of fabric, it will be possible to employ an additional 60 thousand young people and women in the districts.

To this end, the Sulton Styles enterprise implements the program “20 thousand entrepreneurs – 500 thousand qualified specialists”. A practical monocenter has been created, and the unemployed population is trained in textiles. This process has two stages: first, women are taught the use of equipment at the enterprise and labor safety rules. At the next stage, they are attached to mentors and acquire practical knowledge and skills directly at the workplace.

Here, the Head of state got acquainted with projects for tourism development in Shakhrisabz, Kitab, and Qamashi districts. Instructions were given for further developing infrastructure in villages, their inclusion in tourist routes, and the expansion of sources of income for residents.
