Meeting held with UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan

On December 10 of this year, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with Ms. Akiko Fujii Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Uzbekistan.

The large-scale and consistent reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years were discussed during the meeting, particularly the achievements in supporting women, ensuring gender equality, and in the social sectors.

It was noted that as a result of the implemented reforms, the country's State Customs Committee introduced gender standards and won the "Silver Gender Award."

Furthermore, the effectiveness of the policy pursued by the President in the fight against corruption was acknowledged. The parties exchanged views on measures being taken to train civil servants, increase transparency, and strengthen accountability in local government bodies.

At the end of the conversation, the parties agreed to implement programs aimed at improving the anti-corruption system in the regions and intensifying women's participation in society, which were defined as priority areas of cooperation, reported by the Oliy Majlis Senate Press Service.
