New Andijan to bear the name of the Great Babur

On April 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a public celebration in the “Yangi O‘zbekiston” Park in Andijan.

During his conversation with the youth, the Head of state expressed deep confidence in the younger generation:

“One of the main priorities of our state is youth policy. Everything we do in education, mahallas, employment, and sports is for our children’s benefit. The youth of Uzbekistan are talented and capable. But when does talent flourish? When there is effort. Those who strive for knowledge and work on themselves will never be left without a purpose. Learn, grow, and master modern professions. To be happy tomorrow, you must lay the foundation today”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The President also met with representatives of various nationalities residing in Andijan, emphasizing that peace and interethnic harmony are the nation’s greatest treasure.

A festive concert was held at the park’s amphitheater. In his address, the President expressed deep respect for the region’s residents:

“The primary goal of the reforms being carried out in the New Uzbekistan is to ensure the rights, interests, and dignity of every individual and the entire people – and, on that basis, to enhance people’s satisfaction with their lives. We can see the tangible results of these large-scale and noble efforts across all regions, villages, and communities of our homeland, which brings us joy”, he stated.

Andijan region vividly exemplifies these principles in practice. The region is actively advancing in industry, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and improving streets and mahallas, while creating decent working and living conditions for the population.

“In Andijan, the idea and spirit of the New Uzbekistan are reaching every mahalla, every family. This is the greatest and most important outcome of the reforms – the result that we and our people have long awaited”, the President emphasized.

Andijan is one of the country’s oldest cities and a true gem of Fergana Valley. Today, large-scale projects are being actively implemented here, opening up new opportunities. Among them are the construction of the new city and the recent development of the modern “Yangi O‘zbekiston” Park within a short period of time.

The President expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to these transformations.

Andijan is also renowned as the birthplace of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. In this regard, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed naming the new city after Babur – an initiative that the region’s residents warmly welcomed.

“Babur Mirzo was a worthy successor of the Timurid Renaissance, a great figure – a patron of science, culture, art, literature, and human talent. His unique legacy brought global recognition to our nation. The construction of a city bearing his name will serve as a symbolic realization of the dream of our great ancestor”, the President noted.

A large-scale educational cluster will be established in the new city, comprising kindergartens, schools, a university, a museum, a library, and an IT park. The university will include a state-of-the-art international sports complex.

The city of Babur will become a spiritual center that reflects national values, a source of inspiration for youth, a new hub for tourism and culture, and a smart city incorporating advanced technologies.

Like the city of Navoi, named after the great poet and thinker, this city will serve as a bridge between our glorious past and our future. At the highest point of the park, a new, majestic monument to Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur will be erected.

A special program will be adopted to implement these plans, with $250 million in allocated funding.

“As we know, wherever in the world Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur found himself, in whichever country he lived, he always longed for his native land. I believe you will agree that today, the dream of our great ancestor has come true – it is as if he has returned home. I congratulate all of us on this historic occasion!” the President said.

In conclusion, the Head of state congratulated culture and art workers on their professional holiday, celebrated on April 15.
