The temporary closure and upgrading of the station were carried out to create a more convenient, modern infrastructure in execution of directives issued by Deputy Prime Minister A.J. Ramatov during Cabinet of Ministers meeting No. 25 on April 30, 2026.

As part of the project, the station's entry and exit areas were significantly expanded, increasing the number of turnstiles from 6 to 13. High-friction passageways were redesigned to allow direct transfers between platforms.

Following these enhancements, the station's daily passenger capacity has increased from an average of 15,000 to between 35,000 and 40,000.
