The death toll from the collapse of the roof of a nightclub in the Dominican Republic has increased to 184, said Juan Manuel Mendes, head of the emergency management center.

"Unfortunately, I want to inform you that at the moment we have found (dead) 184 people," he said.

Earlier, 124 victims were reported.

The roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo partially collapsed on Monday night, when the venue hosted a popular evening of live music. According to the latest official figures, at least 155 people were hospitalized with injuries. After the recovery stage, authorities will begin a proper investigation into the causes of the collapse.
