Death toll from building collapse in India has increased to 15

    The death toll from the collapse of a four-story apartment building in the Vijay Nagar district of Palghar district in India has increased to 15.

    According to the information, a four-storey residential building in the Ramabai complex, which contained about 50 apartments, collapsed on a neighboring empty building.

    "A one-year-old girl's birthday celebration was taking place on the fourth floor when 12 apartments in the wing of the building collapsed, leaving residents and guests under the rubble," eyewitnesses reported.

    The girl, whose birthday was celebrated at the time of the incident, was among the dead.

    Six other people who were injured and rescued are being treated at various hospitals, according to an official from Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC).

    Emergency crews, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local police and the fire department, continue to clear the rubble to check if anyone else is still under the rubble.
