that the death toll since the outbreak of the rare “Bundibugyo” virus strain in
mid‑May has risen to 3,298 people. Currently, 837
people are in quarantine or undergoing treatment.
This is
already the 17th Ebola epidemic in the DRC, and its epicenter is located in the
northeastern province of Ituri. The virus has already spread to 7 provinces of
the DRC. According to AFP, since the start of the new school year, Ebola has
been rapidly spreading among schoolchildren, which has increased the burden on
medical facilities.
