The Head of State was presented with information on the effectiveness of reforms and development plans in Khorezm region.

Despite limited natural resources, the region’s economy has been developing through structural transformations. Over the past eight years, $2 billion of investment has been attracted, more than 25,000 industrial enterprises have been established, and production volumes have increased 2.2 times. Today, Khorezm is home to successful enterprises in the textile, automotive, electrical engineering, food, and construction industries.

The restoration of the Toshsoqa Main Canal has significantly improved the irrigation system, which is vital for the region. A new bridge across the Amudarya has shortened distances and made transportation more convenient for residents.

Over the past eight years, 660 apartment buildings have been constructed in the region, providing new housing for 21,000 families. In addition, 4,751 kilometers of water supply networks and 206 kilometers of sewerage systems have been laid, giving 580,000 people access to centralized drinking water for the first time.

Since the beginning of the year, 100,000 low-income citizens have been employed. The poverty rate has decreased from 12 percent in January to 6.8 percent – the best indicator in the country.

To expand this work, a Reform Headquarters has been established in the region. At the presentation, new projects prepared based on entrepreneurs’ proposals were also introduced.

Thus, in Urgench district, a project is planned for electricity generation through waste incineration, with $100 million in investments from South Korea.

An Australian company has expressed its readiness to invest $820 million in the construction of a plant in Tuproqqala district to produce 600,000 tons of environmentally friendly aviation fuel and 50,000 tons of green diesel. To power the facility, solar panels with a capacity of 4 gigawatts are planned to be installed on an area of 5,500 hectares.

In addition, a Slovak company plans to invest $170 million in rapeseed cultivation on 5,000 hectares and in the construction of a biofuel plant in the same district.

Overall, new projects worth $2.4 billion have been prepared across Khorezm, along with additional promising initiatives and projects totaling $86 million from the internal reserves of cities and districts.

The President instructed that all conditions be created for investors and that the implementation of projects be accelerated. It was noted that the industrial zones of the region are not being fully utilized. The need to address infrastructure and land use issues for the launch of more than 100 new projects was emphasized.

Given Khorezm’s advantageous geographical location, the Head of State stressed the importance of proper planning of industrial sectors and mobilizing the region’s internal potential. Issues of entrepreneurship development and reducing the shadow economy were also addressed.
