Speaking in The Hague, the US president noted that the strikes on Iran, in his opinion, put an end to the threat from Tehran, as nuclear strikes once ended the war with Japan.
"Didn't we succeed with this strike? This strike ended the war. They've spent trillions of dollars trying to do this, and they haven't succeeded, and we're actually getting along very well with them right now," Trump said.
He compared the actions of the United States with the historical events of the Second World War.
"I don't want to give the example of Hiroshima, I don't want to give the example of Nagasaki, but it was essentially the same thing that ended that war. It ended that, it ended that war. If we hadn't done that, they would still be fighting," the US president said.
