Uzbek Foreign Minister held talks with US special representatives

    On September 21, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held talks in New York with the Special Representative of the United States Department of State for Afghanistan Thomas West and the US Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls and Human Rights Rina Ameri.

    During the meeting, prospects for further expansion of Uzbek-American cooperation to achieve long-term peace in Afghanistan, restore its economy, and assist in resolving the difficult socio-humanitarian situation in this country were discussed.

    The US Special Representatives stressed that the International Conference on Afghanistan held in Tashkent in July this year provided an effective platform for developing coordinated approaches of the world community regarding the settlement of the situation in the country.

    Attention is focused on the need to intensify and systematize international efforts to support the Afghan people. In this context, the importance of using the capabilities of a multifunctional transport and logistics hub created in the city of Termez for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan was pointed out, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
