On April 3, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Gulbozor mahalla in Shaykhantakhur district in Tashkent.

Each mahalla has unique traditions and capabilities. These turn into growth points, contributing to the creation of jobs and increasing the incomes of the population.

Gulbozor is located in the historical part of Tashkent, near the Chorsu market, where many foreign tourists come throughout the year. Therefore, the district is specialized in providing tourism services. Additional conditions have been created on the street and in mahalla houses while preserving their ancient appearance.

In particular, all communication networks were laid underground. The historical gate at the street entrance has been restored. A large porch with carved columns was built, next to which a pond was created. Embroidery and crafts workshops, a bakery, restaurants serving national cuisine, and jewelry stores have been organized. The exhibitions “History of Bread” and “Journey to Ancient Tashkent” opened. A three-star hotel is being built.

The street will become part of the “tourist ring” being created in Shaykhantakhur district. Here, tourists can feel the historical atmosphere and national flavor.

Residents of the mahalla told the Head of state about the changes that had taken place in the mahalla and people’s lives. 2670 people live in the mahalla. Thanks to trade, handicrafts, and services development, the mahalla has become an area free from unemployment. The “Safe District” system was introduced. It was noted that after the implementation of this project, households’ ability to generate income has significantly increased.

The President examined national costumes and decorative and applied art items and talked with artisans.

The Head of state took part in the sumalak (a wheat bran pudding, the main holiday dish of Navruz) cooking festival in the mahalla. The honorable women noted the peace and tranquility reigning in the country. Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated them on the month of Ramadan and expressed good wishes. Prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of the people.

The Leader of the country gave instructions to those in charge of continuing the development of the “tourist ring” and increasing employment in the tourism sector.

“Modern complexes are everywhere. But we can attract foreign tourists with the great history of our country. Therefore, it is necessary to turn this place into a 24-hour tourist center, increase the number of ethnographic sites, demonstrate our national values, and hold various festivals”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

On January 12 this year, the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to significantly increase the flow of foreign tourists to the country and further intensify domestic tourism” was adopted. In accordance with it, work is underway to increase the number of tourist sites and expand transregional tourism services. The implementation of these activities can be seen in the example of Gulbozor mahalla.

As part of the “Yashil Makon” (Green Space) project, fruit and ornamental trees and flowers are planted in the mahalla.
