An innovative clinic in Shakhrisabz to serve as a model for healthcare development

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the multidisciplinary cardiology center in the city of Shakhrisabz.

Improving public health is one of the key priorities of Uzbekistan’s social policy. Comprehensive reforms are being carried out in this sphere: public healthcare institutions are being modernized, investments are being attracted, and the private sector is actively developing. More than 700 private clinics operate in Kashkadarya region, offering 72 types of medical services.

One of the newest facilities in this sector is the “Oq Saroy” clinic, which was recently opened in partnership with a Russian investor. The clinic has four operating rooms, six intensive care units, and over 100 inpatient beds. It can perform up to four cardiac surgeries simultaneously, and up to 25 procedures daily. Experienced specialists from Russia, Türkiye, and Kuwait have been recruited. The clinic performs complex procedures such as stenting, coronary artery bypass surgery, correction of congenital disabilities, and endoprosthetics.

The center also offers advanced diagnostic services. For instance, its state-of-the-art echocardiography unit uses artificial intelligence – currently the only device in the country.

The President emphasized that clinics like this not only transform treatment standards but also reshape the overall perception of healthcare quality, encouraging other institutions to pursue similar transformations.

“We must take this experience as a model and establish such clinics in at least 14 regions. It doesn’t matter how much funding it will require – we will find the resources. What matters most is that people are guaranteed high-quality and accessible care. Without competition and alternatives, there will be no drive for quality”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The Head of State instructed relevant officials to prepare proposals for scaling this model by integrating the operations of such clinics with the primary healthcare system and medical insurance frameworks.

The clinic has created 130 jobs and established a clinical residency program, which will help train qualified medical professionals.

The President paid particular attention to enhancing the qualifications of students and physicians and advancing telemedicine through collaboration with international experts.

It is worth noting that Kashkadarya region experiences a high incidence of cardiovascular diseases, mainly due to dietary imbalances. The new cardiology center and its diagnostic unit play a crucial role in the early detection and effective treatment of such conditions.

In addition, the facility is equipped with mobile diagnostic units that travel to remote areas to provide on-site services such as ultrasound, CT scans, ECGs, and other types of medical care.
