According to the Report, this is stated in a statement by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.
According to the ministry, the missile was launched from the territory of Iran and, passing through the airspace of Iraq and Syria, headed towards the Turkish sky. The threat was timely detected and intercepted by NATO air and missile defense systems deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The ministry clarified that the fragment of the munition that fell in the Dertyol area of Hatay province refers to an intercepting projectile of the air defense system used after the missile was destroyed in the air.
There were no fatalities or injuries as a result of the incident.
The Turkish Defense Ministry stressed that Ankara reserves the right to respond to any hostile actions directed against the country, while calling on the parties to refrain from steps that could lead to further escalation of the conflict.
