In accordance with the resolution of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev “On perpetuation of the memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganiyevich Karimov” of January 25, 2017, September 2 was established as the Day of Remembrance of the First President. On this day, it became a tradition to recall the life and multifaceted activities of Islam Karimov.

Heads of Samarkand region’s hokimiyat, state and public organizations visited the Islam Karimov mausoleum in the city.

Surahs from the Quran were recited.

Participants recalled Islam Karimov’s merits on the way of achieving independence and prosperity of Uzbekistan.

Participants of the event laid flowers to the monument of Islam Karimov erected near Registan square.

Samarkand region’s hokim E. Turdimov attended the event.
