When President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Bukhoro Varnet enterprise for the first time in 2019, it was commencing its work. Today, the company is turning into a modern agro-industrial complex.

Previously just a greenhouse, Bukhoro Varnet is now bent on housing a training center, a laboratory, and a factory for the production of structures for greenhouses. In general, everything needed for modern greenhouses will be manufactured here.

During the current visit, the Head of the state became acquainted with the new capabilities of this complex.

“We have been engaged in greenhouses for so many years, but there were no professionals. Now, this direction is reaching a qualitatively new level”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The soil in Bukhara region is mostly sandy and saline, and water resources are small. The hydroponic method is very convenient for growing agricultural products in such places. Therefore, Bukhoro-Agro FEZ was created by the Presidential Resolution of July 10, 2018. Three thousand hectares have been allocated for this zone in Jondor, Kogon, Peshku, Romitan, and Bukhara districts. Direct investments have been attracted and broad conditions have been created for growing, processing, and exporting agricultural products under the cluster system.

Bukhoro Varnet is the result of these opportunities. The total cost of the project is more than $120 million, all of which is foreign direct investment.

To date, $10 million capital investments from abroad have been used, a greenhouse on 13 hectares has been built, and more than 260 people were employed. Construction is underway on another 17 hectares.

Last year, products worth about 20 billion UZS were manufactured, and $1 million worth of goods were exported. This year, it is planned to attract $26 million of foreign direct investment.

113 hectares are allocated for the enterprise, which after reaching full capacity will have a production capacity of 33.8 thousand tons per year, which will help create a total of about 2 thousand jobs.

During the trip to Khorezm region on December 12, 2020, the President noted the need for opening training centers at large greenhouses, training entrepreneurs and young people interested in this business. The Head of the state has attended such a training center at Bukhoro Varnet enterprise.

“Why is this system important? First, our young people will be trained online by specialists from developed countries. Secondly, materials needed for greenhouses will be localized. The most important thing is to manufacture products that are in demand on the market”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed.

The development of the agricultural and food industry of Bukhara region in 2021 was presented here. The overall goal of all projects is to make agriculture a driver in providing employment and increasing people’s income.
