In the Akdarya district of the Samarkand region, local residents helped save the Turkestan white stork. This is reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.

The ministry said that the ministry's hotline received a message that local residents had found a Turkestan white stork on the bank of the Akdarya River, which could not take off due to a broken wing. The bird was taken to a veterinarian for first aid and a medical examination was performed.

After the appeal, the state inspectors of the Department of Ecology of the Akdarya district temporarily transferred the injured bird to the rehabilitation center of the Zarafshan National Natural Park. After her condition improves, she will be released into the wild.

It is noted that the Turkestan white stork is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan as an invulnerable, partially sedentary flying species. There are currently more than 2,500 such birds.
