Chirchiq River Improvement Project presented

    On May 31, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev became familiar with the presentation of the project for the improvement of Chirchiq River.

    The section of the river passing through Tashkent is 16 kilometers. It is planned to narrow the riverbed on this site and build various infrastructure facilities. At the first stage, a 5-kilometer segment between Akhangaran and Bektemir streets is being put in order.

    Here the President got acquainted with the construction progress.

    Work on this site will be carried out in 2021-2022. As a result, an area of more than 34 hectares will appear.

    The project consists of four stages. At the second stage, another 5 kilometers will be narrowed, at the third and fourth stages – 3 kilometers of the riverbed.

    210 hectares of additional land will be opened as a result of these works. The territory will be landscaped, recreation areas, walking paths and local roads will be built. It is also planned to build modern housing, production and service facilities.

    Noting the importance of this territory for the ecology of the city, the Head of the state instructed to plant more trees and increase the number of recreational areas for the population.

    A meeting was held with the participation of hokims of the city and districts of Tashkent, heads of sectors, chairmen of mahallas.

    Measures have been identified to develop entrepreneurship, especially in the service sector, and create additional jobs due to the correct direction of the allocated funds. The possibility of creating 181 thousand jobs through the implementation of 5,400 projects for the organization of service facilities in mahallas was indicated.

    At the meeting, special attention was paid to social issues. Over the past period of this year, 19.5 thousand young people out of 24 thousand included in the “youth notebook” were employed. In Tashkent, practical assistance was provided to all of the more than 16 thousand women included in the “women's notebook”.

    According to the proposals of representatives of the older generation and activists, responsible persons were given instructions on the improvement of mahallas, repair of roads and water supply networks, medical services. The importance of professional orientation, involvement of young people in sports competitions and clubs was emphasized.

    “This year we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the independence of our country. We should celebrate this holiday with high spirits and great results. We should find new facets, new opportunities so that the people are satisfied”, the President noted.
