According to Uzbekistan MIFT, the parties discussed issues of transport and logistics cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as the prospects for joint implementation of large projects for the construction of transport infrastructure.
The head of the Russian company announced his readiness to take part in the implementation of the project for the construction of the Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway, while noting the importance of the project for the economic development of the region’s countries and increasing the transit potential of many states. It was emphasized that the implementation of the project, forming a new architecture of transport communications in the region, will reduce the time and cost parameters of transportation of goods from East and South Asia to the CIS and Europe and in the opposite direction by 30 percent.
An agreement was reached on attracting specialized Russian design institutes with advanced experience and technologies in this area to provide technical assistance in the development of a feasibility study for the project and mechanisms for its financing.
Following the meeting, a Memorandum was signed between Russian Railways and the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of Uzbekistan on assistance in the organized attraction of qualified labor resources of Uzbekistan for the construction of railway infrastructure facilities in Russia.
