According to Jokarga Kenes, transportation will be carried out over the new bridge over the Amu Darya. The train will start running daily on January 20 and will depart from Urgench at 6:00 a.m. and from Kungrad at 1:24 p.m.
This bridge was opened in February last year during the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Amudarya region. The bridge, which is 423 meters long, is capable of carrying up to 24 trains in both directions. This reduces the railway distance by 180 kilometers and the cargo delivery time by almost six hours, and will double the annual volume of cargo transportation and reduce the cost of transportation by half.
Railway routes to Kazakhstan and Russia will also be opened.
