    According to the National Statistics Committee, as of October 1, 2025, the permanent population of the Republic of Uzbekistan was 38,069,100 people. This is 713,700 people, or 1.9% more than in the same period last year.

    Of the total population, 51% (19.4 million people) live in cities, and 49% (18.7 million people) live in rural areas. The population density reached 84.8 people per square kilometer. Men make up 19.17 million people (50.4%), women - 18.9 million people (49.6%).

    In January-September 2025, 664,600 children were born in the country, which is 29,300 fewer than last year. The birth rate was 23.5%. Of the total number of newborns, 343.6 thousand (51.7%) were boys and 321.0 thousand (48.3%) were girls. 345.3 thousand (52.0%) births were registered in rural areas, 319.3 thousand (48.0%) in urban areas.

    During the same period, 132.2 thousand people died, which is slightly more than a year earlier. The mortality rate was 4.7%. 55% of the deceased are men (72.7 thousand people) and 45% are women (59.5 thousand people). The natural population growth during this period amounted to 532.4 thousand people.

    In the first nine months of 2025, a negative balance of external migration was registered: 1,133 people arrived in the country, and 7,585 people left abroad. Internal migration between the regions amounted to 210.1 thousand people. A total of 211.3 thousand people arrived (including internal and external migration), 217.7 thousand people left.

    In January-September, 177.0 thousand marriages were registered, which is 2.4 thousand less than in the same period last year. Of these, 51.5% were concluded in cities (91.2 thousand), 48.5% - in rural areas (85.8 thousand). The number of divorces was 35.4 thousand, the divorce rate was 1.3%. Compared to last year, this figure increased by 1.4 thousand. More divorces were registered in cities - 60.4% (21.4 thousand), in rural areas - 39.6% (14.0 thousand).

    Thus, the population of Uzbekistan continues to grow steadily. Natural growth remains the main factor in the increase, while the distribution between urban and rural populations maintains a balance.
