Four women
died on the spot, nine more managed to escape. They were able to raise a scream
and run out of the forest.
After the
incident, local residents headed to the forest, and employees of the forestry
department and the police arrived at the scene. Patrols have been stepped up in
the area, and residents are advised to avoid single exits into the forest.
It is noted
that such cases are extremely rare for the region, and the incident has once
again exacerbated the problem of human-wildlife conflict in Chandrapur
