The New York Times reported that the US Department of Defense has ordered the deployment of approximately 2,000 paratroopers to the Middle East.
According to the report, personnel from the "rapid reaction force" of the elite 82nd Airborne Division will be stationed in the Middle East. The paratroopers will be positioned "near Iran," tass.ru reports.
Last week, Fox News reported that an amphibious assault group consisting of approximately 4,500 sailors and marines, led by the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, had departed for the Middle East.
