During the meeting, the sides discussed issues and prospects for further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN, highly appreciated constructive cooperation in many areas of development, including in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Global Agenda for the period up to 2030.
At the beginning of the conversation, the President of the Senate, warmly welcoming the visit to our country, familiarized the guest in detail with the ongoing work and the results of large-scale reforms in the country, good-neighborly relations, conditions created within the framework of support for women, protection of human rights, combating human trafficking and forced labor, improvement of legislation.
In particular, it was emphasized that a positive practice of the mechanism of parliamentary control over the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals has been established, systematic work is underway to strengthen national legislation and the organizational and legal framework, the development of institutional foundations taking into account international standards in 16 areas.
In turn, Gwi Yeop Song, thanking for the warm welcome, noted Uzbekistan's efforts in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals of the Global Agenda.
During the dialogue, which took place in a constructive and practical atmosphere, an exchange of views took place on further intensification of cooperation aimed at solving global security problems, sustainable development, protection and promotion of human rights, as well as strengthening peace, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
