Issues of expanding cooperation with JICA were discussed

    On December 22, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov, who arrived in Tokyo on a visit, held a meeting with the Vice-President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Junichi Yamada.

    During the negotiations, the positive dynamics of cooperation between Uzbekistan and JICA within the framework of the Official Development Assistance Program was noted with satisfaction.

    From 1993 to 2021, through this structure, projects were implemented in our country within the framework of concessional loans in the amount of $ 1.5 billion, under grant and technical assistance programs - in the amount of $ 232.2 million.

    Currently, 13 projects worth $4.7 billion are under implementation. The parties are also working on 14 new projects worth $ 700 million.

    Junichi Yamada said that JICA considers Uzbekistan as its key partner in Central Asia and highly appreciates the progress of large-scale transformations being carried out in the country.

    The Vice-President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency assured of JICA's commitment to increasing cooperation with the Uzbek side. Energy, the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies, export support, transport and logistics, healthcare, education are identified as priority areas for the medium term, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
