According to the chairman of the CEC of the referendum Nurken Abdirov, out of 12,284,487 people eligible to vote in the referendum, 7,820,204 people voted, or 63.66%.
"The number of citizens who voted for a positive solution to the issue put to the referendum amounted to 5 million 561 thousand 937 people, or 71.12%," Nurlan Abdirov announced.
The TFR added that 2,045,271 people voted against the NPP. 130,267 ballots were declared invalid. Thus, the referendum is considered to have taken place, since more than half of the citizens eligible to participate in the referendum took part in the voting.
A referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant was held in Kazakhstan on October 6, 2024. Earlier, the CEC announced the preliminary results of the vote of Kazakhstanis, reports zakon.kz.
