    The President of Uzbekistan calls for active inter-parliamentary cooperation with India

    On April 7, on the sidelines of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a delegation from the Republic of India, led by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha (lower house of Parliament), Om Birla.

    The Speaker conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Leader of Uzbekistan.

    The issues related to the further expansion of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and India were discussed.

    The steady development of multifaceted cooperation was noted with satisfaction. In recent years, there has been consistent growth in trade turnover, an increasing number of successful joint ventures, and expanding air connectivity between the two countries.

    Projects are being implemented in various sectors, including energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and agriculture.

    Four branches of Indian universities are currently operating in Uzbekistan.

    During the conversation, the importance of establishing close inter-parliamentary exchanges was emphasized, along with active engagement at the level of relevant committees, the creation of friendship groups and youth platforms, and the effective use of the regional potential of both countries.
