The fund was established in 2014 on the initiative of the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to provide financial support for trade, economic, and investment cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road project.

Joint plans for implementing promising projects were considered through the active use of the capabilities of the investment platform created jointly with the fund for financial support of industrial cooperation and infrastructure development.
