Shusha is called the main pearl of Karabakh, the temple of the art of the Caucasus, and the cradle of Azerbaijani music. The city is the birthplace of outstanding science, culture, and art figures.
Since 2021, Shusha has been the Cultural Capital of Azerbaijan, and in 2023, the city was declared the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World.
This year, the city of Khiva and the city of Shusha became sister cities.
The distinguished guests began their acquaintance with the city from the Saatli Mosque, built in 1883.
Then, the heads of state toured the photo exhibition “Heydar Aliyev and Karabakh”, organized in connection with the 100th Anniversary of the National Leader of Azerbaijan’s birth.
A visit to the main city square of Shusha was organized. There are busts of outstanding cultural figures of Azerbaijan – Khurshidbanu Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
The Uzbek side got acquainted with great interest with the “Khan Kyzy” spring, which served as a source of drinking water for the city, the house museum of the famous Azerbaijani cultural figure Bulbul, the architectural monument “House of the Mehmandarovs”, as well as the famous plain tract of Jydir Duzu, where equestrian competitions were held.
Thereupon, the President of Uzbekistan completed his state visit to Azerbaijan. The Head of state departed for Tashkent.
