Leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan sum up the results of fruitful negotiations

    At a meeting with media representatives, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev shared their assessments of the negotiations.

    The President of Uzbekistan noted with deep satisfaction that the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan became a historic event in developing centuries-old friendly relations between the two countries.

    President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that one of the key results of the visit was the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations. According to the Leader of Uzbekistan, this marks the beginning of a new chapter in strengthening interstate cooperation and confirms the parties’ firm commitment to the comprehensive development of a multifaceted partnership.

    During the visit, the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, which is intended to become an effective mechanism for developing and implementing new proposals to deepen allied relations, was also held.

    The President of Uzbekistan drew attention to the fact that since the beginning of the year, meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, consultations on political and security issues, meetings of parliamentarians, a forum of regions, as well as several cultural and business events have been held, which became the key to the success of the current summit.

    Uzbekistan is sincerely pleased with the outstanding achievements of brotherly Azerbaijan.

    The President of Uzbekistan noted the dynamic growth of the economy and industry and the improvement of the population’s standard of living in the brotherly country. He once again congratulated Ilham Aliyev on restoring Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and returning the original Azerbaijani lands.

    Special attention was paid to the restoration of Karabakh, where social infrastructure and production facilities are being actively built. Uzbekistan is ready to continue to support Azerbaijan in this noble work.

    “Azerbaijan is our important strategic partner and ally. Common historical roots and centuries-old friendship connect us, we have the same religion, similar culture and traditions. All this serves as a reliable basis for deepening comprehensive cooperation”, the Leader of Uzbekistan emphasized.

    During the talks, the Presidents discussed the entire spectrum of multifaceted relations, including trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport, agriculture, and culture.

    The parties agreed to strengthen political dialogue, provide mutual support on multilateral platforms, and continue active contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, industry departments, and regions.

    The importance of increasing trade and economic cooperation, which demonstrates sustainable growth dynamics, was emphasized. In this regard, it was decided to declare next year the Year of Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan by adopting a program in 20 main areas.

    It was noted that the business forum had been fruitful the day before, during which dozens of contracts and agreements were signed. Within the framework of these agreements, essential projects will be implemented, such as the construction of a hotel, textile clusters, a garment factory, the production of building materials, and others.

    There are developments on joint participation in promising projects in third countries. In this context, the successful activities of a joint investment company created to promote such projects were noted.

    Particular attention was paid to the development of transport connectivity, including through the development of the Trans-Caspian Corridor.

    The leaders agreed to accelerate the implementation of a large-scale regional project to produce green energy and export it to European countries through Azerbaijan.

    A roadmap of interregional cooperation will be adopted to intensify contacts between the regions, and the next Forum of Regions will be held in the city of Kokand.

    The heads of state agreed to expand contacts and exchanges in culture, youth and information policy, science, education, and sports.

    The established tradition of holding mutual Culture and Cinema Days, exhibitions and tours of creative groups in our countries every year will continue, now not only in the capitals, but also in the regions where most of our population lives.

    In recognition of the high merits of the legendary pop stars Farrukh Zakirov and Polad Bülbüloğlu, the Presidents decided to award them the honorary titles of People’s Artists of the two countries.

    In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for supporting his proposals and initiatives. He expressed confidence that the results of the fruitful negotiations will give a powerful impetus to further developing the relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan and strengthen the friendship and alliance between the fraternal countries.
