From the orchards of Parkent to global markets

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the fresh fruit harvest at one of the intensive orchards in Parkent district.

On a 54-hectare plot owned by the Meridian Tempo enterprise, export-oriented varieties of sweet cherries, apples, pears, and raspberries are cultivated. The saplings were imported from France and Spain. A key feature of these trees is that they are self-pollinating, which ensures high yields.

A modern agro-technological drip irrigation system has been implemented in the orchard. Water is first collected in a special reservoir and then flows naturally by gravity due to the sloped terrain. This eliminates the need for electricity, thereby reducing production costs. Additionally, solar panels have been installed, making the operation even more energy efficient.

The harvest is sent for export. This year, it is planned to collect 256 tons of sweet cherries, 500 tons of apples, 480 tons of pears, and 30 tons of raspberries. Notably, the income from such an orchard is several times higher than the profit from traditional crops.

The Head of State gave instructions to expand the use of such intensive cultivation methods, to adopt advanced international practices in fruit tree care, and to improve the packaging and preparation of products for export.
