During the solemn ceremony, a guard of honor was lined up, the national anthem of Uzbekistan was played, and for the first time in history, the flag of our country was raised, the Dunyo news agency reports.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state of relations between Uzbekistan and Fiji in the political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, educational and tourism spheres, as well as on the prospects for cooperation.

The President of Fiji noted that despite the geographical distance from each other, the two countries have friendly relations based on mutual respect, constructive dialogue and common values.

The Head of State stressed that Uzbekistan is located in an important strategic region, has rich natural resources and high human potential. He highly appreciated the constructive and active foreign policy pursued by the head of our state to ensure peace and sustainable development in the region.

It was also noted that the appointment of the Uzbek ambassador to Fiji for the first time in diplomatic relations between the two countries is an important historical event for the Fijian side. In this regard, special thanks were expressed to the President of Uzbekistan for his attention to the development of bilateral and multilateral relations with Fiji.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Fiji expressed deep respect and conveyed sincere greetings to the head of our state, as well as wishes for peace and prosperity to the Uzbek people.

Uzbekistan and Fiji established diplomatic relations on June 16, 2010. On September 27, 2021, Mukhsinkhodja Abdurakhmanov presented his credentials to Emperor Naruhito of Japan as the new ambassador of Uzbekistan.
