The first in the history of bilateral relations, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Montenegro with residence in Budapest, Oybek Shakhavdinov, presented his credentials to the President of Montenegro, Yakov Milatovich. This event has become a landmark in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, as well as identified steps to bring the bilateral partnership to a qualitatively new level.

President Milatovich congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on their successes in socio-economic development, wished the country peace and prosperity, and also noted the importance of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's initiatives in the field of reforms and international cooperation.

The President of Montenegro stressed the significant potential for cooperation between states, especially in the trade, economic, investment and cultural spheres, and focused on the need to create favorable conditions for humanitarian and tourist exchanges. In his opinion, this will contribute to strengthening mutually beneficial partnership.

It is worth noting that diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Montenegro were established on December 19, 2006. Shakhavdinov became the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Slovenia and Croatia, and in March 2024 was appointed Ambassador of the Republic to Hungary.
