The strategy of tourism development in Karakalpakstan is presented

    The Ministry of Culture and Tourism in close cooperation with the German organization "Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit-GIZ" organizes a number of events for the development of tourism in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

    In particular, in cooperation between the two organizations, the strategy "Sustainable tourism development in the Republic of Karakalpakstan in 2023-2026" has been developed, which represents the Republic of Karakalpakstan as a unique tourist destination.

    The goal of the strategy of the Republic of Karakalpakstan is to diversify tourist products and improve the quality of services, improve infrastructure, create new tourist destinations, increase exports and promotion in foreign tourist markets, create new jobs.

    In accordance with the strategy, tasks have been identified that need to be implemented in a number of priority areas. According to which:

    • diversification of the hotel system in the territory of Karakalpakstan, that is, the creation of hotels in the region with a star category, including 4 and 5 stars;
    • improving the transport and logistics system for domestic and foreign tourists, in particular, the organization of domestic and foreign air/rail flights. In the future, the establishment of transport links of Karakalpakstan with tourist cities of the country, including Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand;
    • training of English-speaking guides with experience and knowledge of English, Russian, German, French, Italian, Turkish, Spanish, improving the quality of professional and higher education in the field of tourism;
    • an increase in the length of stay (overnight stay) of tourists in this area and related expenses by an average of 7-10% per year;
    • by 2026, the number of foreign tourists arriving in Karakalpakstan will amount to 180,000 people (50,000 in 2022), and the number of local tourists - 1 million people (552 thousand in 2022), the export of tourist services will increase from 13.5 to 60 million US dollars, the number of rooms in accommodation facilities from 1,005 to 1 905;
    • creation of new products and development of tourist programs in the field of eco, ethno, cultural-historical, pilgrimage, archaeological, gastronomic and safari tourism;
    • development of a tourist route along the ancient fortresses with the Khorezm region, effective use of the possibilities of the Savitsky Museum, the Aral Sea, Lake Sudochye and the Ustyurt plateau;
    • adoption of marketing measures and placement of tourist products of Karakalpakstan on international tourist platforms.
