Italian Prime Minister to visit Uzbekistan

    Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni is planning an official visit to Uzbekistan on May 28-29, 2025. Meetings and negotiations will take place in Samarkand.

    The visit is aimed at deepening political and economic cooperation between Italy and Uzbekistan.

    Meloni will take part in the first Central Asia-Italy Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, where he will meet with the leaders of five countries in the region.

    In 2024, the trade turnover between Italy and Uzbekistan amounted to $ 438 million, including Uzbekistan's exports of $44.6 million and imports of $393.4 million.

    In June 2023, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Italy, where agreements worth more than 9 billion euros were signed. In response, Italian President Sergio Mattarella visited Uzbekistan in November 2023.
