Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with activities carried out at Uzbekfilm Studio.

In his Address to the Oliy Majlis this year, the Head of the state noted the need for creating films of a high artistic level, developing modern film industry, including through the construction of cinemas.

The sector has received large funding. All Uzbekfilm pavilions were repaired and conditions for creating new films were improved. The film studio and documentary film studio are equipped with modern equipment.

Here the President held conversation with veterans, directors and specialists of cinematography.

“Cinema is a very difficult, important sphere for our people and society. Previously, Uzbekfilm Studio was in a deplorable state. Many premises and buildings were rented out. And now everything has returned to the owners – the filmmakers”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

Stagnation has occurred due to the lack of attention in cinematography of Uzbekistan. Mostly superficial commercial films on shallow topics were created, and development of the sphere lagged behind the world rates.

Thanks to the recent attention and support, the content of films has changed. In particular, such historical films as “Imom Termiziy”, “Islomkhoja”, “Elparvar”, “Qo’qon Shamoli”, “101”, “Ibrat” were shot.

“Although the number of films shot in recent years is insignificant, they have more meaning”, noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was noted that the domestic viewer should not fall under the influence of foreign television series, but, on the contrary, know their history, art, literature, values, and be brought up in this spirit.

“Cinema is the basis of education. We need to open a cinematography school. Now there are not enough high-quality films, but there is a desire to shoot good works. There must be a film about the history of Uzbekistan. The time has come for this”, the Head of the state emphasized.

It was recommended to compile a list of the 100 best domestic films and show them on state and private TV channels.

To perpetuate the memory of selfless figures of the national cinematography, the President proposed to name secondary schools in each region after such popularly beloved actors and actresses as Razzoq Khamroyev, Shukur Burkhanov, Nabi Rakhimov, Khamza Umarov, Lutfikhonim Sarimsoqova.

Opinions were expressed about the study and introduction of the achievements of the world film industry, the development of the qualifications of filmmakers, in particular, training young people at Russian State University of Cinematography. An idea was forwarded to organize a children’s film studio.
