Shavkat Mirziyoyev departs for Tajikistan

    On June 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, departed for Tajikistan on an official visit.

    As previously reported, during the high-level talks, it is planned to discuss the current issues of further strengthening Uzbekistan – Tajikistan friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership. Aspects of the development of bilateral political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian cooperation will be considered.

    The main attention will be paid to identifying new growth points for multifaceted interaction and promoting specific projects for the development of practical collaboration in the long term.

    The Leaders will also exchange views on aspects of international politics and the regional agenda.

    Following the talks, it is planned to sign a Joint Statement of the Heads of state, agreements on the establishment of Uzbekistan – Tajikistan investment company, on cooperation in the industry and new technologies, a roadmap for further development of cooperation in the agriculture and others.

    More than 30 documents covering almost all areas of cooperation will be adopted.

    It is also planned to conclude commercial contracts and cooperation agreements in various sectors of the economy worth about $1 billion.

    The program of the visit includes participation in joint cultural events in the capital of Tajikistan, holding meetings with public representatives, visiting industrial facilities in Sughd region.
