The Turkmen Leader conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to the President of Uzbekistan.
The talks focused on developing and strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation across all areas of interaction, including political, interparliamentary, trade and economic, transport and communications, and cultural and humanitarian spheres, was noted with deep satisfaction.
A productive dialogue is maintained at all levels. Regular meetings are held by the Intergovernmental Commission, the Business Council, the Regional Forum, cultural days, exhibitions, and other events. Last year, mutual trade turnover reached $1.1 billion. Trade houses have been established in the capitals, and freight transportation volumes continue to grow. A target has been set to increase trade volume to $2 billion in the coming years.
Mutually beneficial cooperation is expanding in energy, transport, agriculture, water management, and other economic sectors. A joint border trade zone “Shavat-Dashoguz” is currently being established.
Active interregional contacts have been established, and a comprehensive program of cultural and humanitarian exchanges is being implemented.
An agreement was reached to hold the third Regional Forum this year in Khiva and the Turkmenistan Culture Days in Uzbekistan.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan also exchanged views on the regional cooperation agenda, including preparations for the upcoming “Central Asia Plus” summits and the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which will take place in Tashkent.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of the upcoming Forum to be held this December in Ashgabat, within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan, as well as other international events.
At the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan presented the National Leader of the Turkmen People with a copy of his book “The Pearl of Wisdom” in Uzbek, recently published in Uzbekistan.
