It was attended by WBC President Mauricio Suleiman, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Chairman of the Boxing Federation Achilbay Ramatov, Minister of Youth Policy and Sports Adham Ikramov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Professional Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan Kudratilla Rafikov, Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia Otabek Umarov, First Vice-President of the Professional Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan Gafur Rakhimov, the leadership of the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees, media representatives and world boxing stars.
The event was opened by Achilbay Ramatov. During his speech, he spoke about the great attention paid by our President to a healthy lifestyle, in particular, the sports sphere. He particularly noted the high achievements of our boxers in the international arena and declared the tournament officially open. In turn, Mauricio Suleiman stressed the high level of preparation of our country for this major sporting event, as well as the fact that our professional boxers achieve great victories on the world stage.
At the event, the President of the WBC on behalf of the organization presented special awards to A. Ramatov and G. Rakhimov for long-term cooperation and assistance in organizing this large-scale event at the proper level. In addition, Uzbek boxing stars were awarded commemorative medals of the organization.
The 60th anniversary of the WBC organization will also be celebrated during the convention in Tashkent. The event was attended by such prominent representatives of world boxing as Evander Holyfield, Julio Cesar Chavez, Kostya Tszyu, Amir Khan, Alexander Usyk and others.
The event will last until November 17, and such legends as Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, Vasily Lomachenko are expected to arrive in the capital.
The agenda of the 61st WBC Convention will address a number of issues, in particular, education, doping, refereeing, international relations, changes made to the rules of boxing, ratings, championship belts, charity and public initiatives.
November 17 - on the last day of the event, a big evening of professional boxing will be held in the multifunctional complex "Humo Arena" in Tashkent. The main fight of the evening, which is organized by the Uzbek promotion company LIFT, will take place in the heavyweight category, where our compatriot Bahodir Jalolov will fight with the representative of South Africa - Chris Thompson.
Also, Abdumalik Khalokov, Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov, Mujbillo Tursunov and Kudratilla Abdukakhkharov are expected to perform in this tournament.
