The President of Uzbekistan emphasizes the importance of expanding practical cooperation with the European Union

    On May 13, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais.

    The EU Special Representative conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

    Discussions focused on expanding bilateral and regional cooperation in the context of the practical implementation of the outcomes of the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit, held in April this year in Samarkand.

    Particular attention was given to the prompt preparation and advancement of specific investment and financial-technical cooperation projects, totaling 12 billion euros.

    Views were exchanged on current regional issues, and the schedule of upcoming events was reviewed.
