Shavkat Mirziyoyev chairs a meeting on the comprehensive development of Namangan region

    Measures for comprehensive development of Namangan region were considered at the Session of the Council of People’s Deputies.

    The President noted that the first important task is to increase employment and income of the population, reduce poverty. An instruction was given to allocate loans totaling 850 billion UZS for the development of entrepreneurship in the context of the mahalla.

    It was reported about the allocation of $60 million from the Reconstruction and Development Fund to the region. Of these, $15 million will be allocated for the reconstruction of the heat supply system, $10 million to improve infrastructure in the old town part and landscaping embankments, $10 million for financing driver-projects in the mahallas, $5 million for the development of lemon growing. Small and youth industrial zones, domestic and pilgrimage tourism, partial repayment of interest on loans will receive $5 million each.

    In 2021-2022, it is planned to implement 1,728 sectoral and regional investment projects worth 23 trillion 700 billion UZS in the region. More than 66 thousand people will be employed after the implementation of these projects.

    “This is the first time in thirty years that so much money has been allocated for Namangan. If we manage them correctly and effectively, the region will develop faster, the industry will come to all districts, and people will get jobs”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

    The importance of the development of agriculture and diversification of cultivated crops was noted. The task was set to employ 200 thousand young people by allocating 17 thousand hectares of agricultural land, as well as 10 thousand women through the organization of cotton clusters of clothing enterprises in each district.

    Responsible officials were instructed to create Yangikurgan Potato Growing Center and Research Institute for Potato Growing with Hungary.

    The development of social infrastructure was also under focus. It was noted that this year 59 billion UZS from the budget and 100 billion UZS from the Reconstruction and Development Fund will be allocated for the construction of 160 kilometers of drinking water supply networks and 11 kilometers of sewer networks. As a result, 167 thousand more residents of the region will have access to drinking water.

    The President also talked with young people, supported their proposals and business projects. Responsible officials were given appropriate instructions.

    “I feel a surge of strength when I see the confidence in the future in the eyes of young people! It is such an educated, energetic, active youth that can make changes in all areas. We must create all conditions for them and provide all possible assistance”, the Head of the state noted.
