The event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade L. Kudratov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan A. Ikramov, President of the Latvian Employers' Confederation (LDDK) Vitalijs Gavrilovs and other representatives of ministries, departments and agencies, as well as representatives of the business circles of the two countries.

The key topic of the event was the strengthening of bilateral ties between the business communities of the two countries, as a decisive factor in the further development of investment and trade and economic Uzbek-Latvian cooperation.

Speaking, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A. Ikramov noted that thanks to the active cooperation between our countries, the business circles of Latvia and Uzbekistan are rapidly increasing joint cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres.

It is worth noting that, in turn, the Uzbek-Latvian Business Council serves as an important platform for close, direct interaction between the business communities of the two countries and for holding many joint events aimed at further deepening and expanding trade, economic, investment, technological, transport, logistics and other cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia.

Vitalijs Gavrilovs, President of the Latvian Employers' Confederation (LDDK), stressed that attention is being paid to the consistent expansion of economic partnership in priority areas for Uzbekistan and Latvia, as well as to the intensification of interaction and cooperation between representatives of the business circles of the two countries. He also expressed hope that today's meeting will become a powerful business platform in the relations between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Latvia.0

At today's Uzbek-Latvian Business Council, attention was paid to strengthening cooperation between the business community of the two countries.

During the meeting, the guests were familiarized with presentation materials about the investment potential of Uzbekistan, as well as with all the conditions for doing business in our country.

At the end of the event, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents on cooperation was held, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports.

For reference: by the end of 2021, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $ 228 million, including exports - $ 52.8 million, imports - $ 175 million. Currently, 68 enterprises with the participation of investors from Latvia operate on the territory of the republic, including 46 joint ventures and 22 enterprises with 100% Latvian capital, as well as 1 representative office.

To expand the opportunities for the supply of Uzbek products to the Baltic States and the European Union, on September 10, 2021, an Uzbek Trading House was opened in Riga in an online format with the participation of representatives of state bodies of Latvia, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Latvia, business circles of Latvia and the Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan.
