The rocket launched at 19:30 East Coast time (03:30 Baku time) from the Starbase spaceport in Texas. Almost seven minutes after launch, the reusable rocket booster, which performs the functions of the first stage of the superheavy Starship, landed on a floating platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
The previous three launches in 2025 ended with the loss of the ship. During the tenth flight, the company decided not to set itself the task of a controlled return of the accelerator to the launch pad.
The ship will attempt to take eight simulators of the Starlink communications system satellites out of the cargo hold. In addition, the company wants to test improvements aimed at improving the reliability of Starship during its return to Earth. The flight is expected to last about an hour and end with a landing in the waters of the Indian Ocean.
The launch was originally scheduled for August 24, but a few minutes before the launch, the company canceled the launch, explaining this step by a malfunction of the ground systems. On August 25, unfavorable weather prevented the launch of the device.
