The United States allowed Russia to sell oil from tankers for a month

The U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a license that allows Russia to sell oil and petroleum products loaded onto ships until March 12.

According to the Report, this was announced by the US Treasury Department.

"General License 134, authorizing the supply and sale of crude oil and petroleum products of Russian origin loaded onto ships as of March 12, 2026," the document says.

The license is valid from March 12 to April 12.

In turn, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent pointed out that the sale permit applies only to oil that is "already on the way." The purpose of the issued license is to increase the global coverage of existing fuel supplies. "This narrowly targeted short-term measure will not bring significant financial benefits to the Russian government," Bessent added on the social network X.

Earlier, on March 5, the United States granted India a 30-day license to purchase Russian oil, which has already been loaded into tankers.
